Contest Rules & Entry Requirements
Contest Duration: The Gardens That Teach Food Day Challenge commences at 12:00:01 AM on October 24, 2012 (Food Day) and ends at 11:59:59 on February 11, 2013. All entries must be received in accordance with the Official Rules. The winner and runner-ups will be announce on or about March 4, 2013.
Eligibility: This contest is open to all public elementary and middle schools within Cuyahoga County. (This includes public charter schools that are part of the Cleveland Municipal School district). Each school or facility may only submit one entry. In the event there is more than one entry for a single address, an attempt will be made to notify the entrant, but this communication will not be guaranteed nor will the contest sponsors play any role whatsoever in decisions related to final "entrants" for any school or individual. There is no purchase necessary to enter or win. Purchases will not increase your chances of winning.
Purpose: The purpose of this contest is to educate students about the qualities, characteristics, and benefits of plants, year-round gardening, healthy eating, local foods, and Food Day's goals and objectives--healthy, affordable, and sustainable food.
Submission: Please read the the Official Rules and complete the provided form available from the tab "Entry Form". The building principal or head of school must have approved your application.
Public Display of Contest Submissions: Contest submissions may be placed on public display through Food Day, Sustainable Cleveland 2019, Tunnel Vision Hoops or Cleveland Educators for Sustainability.
Panel of Judges: All "Eligible" entries will be judge by independent judges; including, but not limited to, experts in community gardening, service learning, food policy, biology, botany, horticulture, teaching, school administration and communications fields. Each entry will be judged according to the assessment criteria and Challenge Questions (Refer to Weebly tabs "Gardens That Teach Challenge" and "Challenge Questions").
Prize: The winning entry will receive a Hoop House constructed by Tunnel Vision Hoops. In addition, two
Honorable Mentions will be awarded.
